Derek is in demand as an inspirational speaker about photography and as a photographic competition judge. His skill and creativity has been recognised by his peers in the numerous awards he has gained, including the BPPA National Awards, and the MPA Regional Portrait and Wedding Awards. One of his portraits is featured in the RPS's prestigious 2007 publication, "Portfolio One".
